Why Hire a Wedding Planner or Day-Of Coordinator?

Why Hire a Wedding Planner or Day-Of Coordinator?

Here’s my Top 6 Reasons!

Let’s be honest, the planning process is exciting but, can be overwhelming. There are so many details that go into creating the perfect day and having to navigate that on your own can feel like a lot. Wedding planners are here to help you from start to end so your day becomes exactly the one you envisioned.

“Well I can just do it myself.” Words many people say, and it is true. However, between work, social commitments, holidays, and more, people don’t realize the time commitment that goes into planning. That’s where having a wedding planner can alieviate that stress you feel, and be a pillar of support and guidance.

Some of the main reasons to book a planner:

  1. Vendors know one another. Often vendors become familiar with one another from working of events within the industry. Every planner has a recommendation list as to who they suggest booking for their clients. Sometimes couples are looking to go for a particular style/ aesthetic and that may be more aligned with one vendor verses another.

  2. Being the main a point of contact for vendors. Correspondence with vendors occurs during the entirety of the planning process, from booking to your wedding day. It is easier to have one point of contact than multiple. Sometimes when this happens, information does not get relayed to everyone and miscommunications can occur because there are so many moving parts. Having one point of contact also allows for vendors to feel familiar with one another leading up to your wedding day and while being on-site.

  3. You don’t know, what you don’t know. Like any profession, you learn the tricks of the trade through experience. This comes with troubleshooting during hiccups and preventing them. Wedding planners have seen it all and their expertise is there to help you consider factors or ideas that may affect your decisions during the planning process. It is their job to be transparent with what is/isn’t doable or provide suggestions to create a seamless day.

  4. You know what you want, but not how to make it come to life. It is easy to look on Pinterest or Instagram at inspiration photos but, what is being put out there can also be costly. When entering the premilinary stages of planning it is important to decide on a realistic budget. Once this has been decided, a wedding planner can help you create the look and feel that you are finding in your inspiration photos/reels while remaining inside your budget.

  5. Avoiding too many cooks in the kitchen. As soon as you get engaged, everyone wants to know when you are getting married, where it will be, and so on. Sometimes this comes with people offering unsolicited advice or design ideas. It is important to have one head chef that advocates for the couple getting married. A wedding planner will discuss with the couple what they want and will follow their wishes. This allows for the couple to say “We are working with our wedding planner to create our design and perfect day! I appreciate your ideas and can’t wait for you to join us.”

  6. Enjoying the day! This may be the most important part. A wedding planner or day-of coordinator is there to make sure your day goes off without a hitch. As the couple getting married, your focus should be on celebrating your marriage and love for one another. Following the timeline or managing what goes on behind the scenes can be handled by a professional. It is your day to enjoy as the guests of honour!

Wedding planners and coordinators do so much more than just the listed points. Need help with picking a guest list? Or sending invites? Or where to find bridesmaids dresses? These are all part of our everyday and we are here to support you.
